2 New Electrical Apprentices

It is fantastic news that we can announce we have just employed 2 new electrical apprentices for this years intake. They have both spent some time doing work experience with us which we received some fantastic feedback on them. We are all looking forward to watching them progress through their apprenticeship.

Investing in The Future

Josh Allen

This happy looking chap is Josh Allen, a local 16 year old from Blewbury near Didcot who is fast approaching starting his second year of a 4 year apprenticeship with GA Electrical & Mechanical. He’s always been a ‘hands on’ practical sort of guy and interested in the back-story of electrical works, but out of 5 local companies who he approached seeking an apprenticeship, GA Electrical & Mechanical were the only ones who even responded.

Josh says: “I know first-hand that it’s tough finding many firms prepared to take you on as an apprentice, so it’s great we’re taking on more this year.

I really enjoy the small-works side of what we do; I like the variety of being in a different place most days. I’m sure the latest additions will get just as much out of their time spent with GA Electrical & Mechanical as apprentices as I do.”

The six new apprentices will take up their places in September.

Apprenticeship Program

Back in August, we welcomed 3 new apprentices to our ever growing team. Charles, Jack and Archie were students at Wallingford School, and decided to do a week of work experience alongside our electrician’s to get a feel for the industry.

We were delighted to know that all 3 considered an apprenticeship, and we were very happy to take them on here at GA. We usually take on 2 apprentices every year, but Charles, Jack and Archie all showed enthusiasm, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn – we couldn’t not take them all on!

They will continue to work at GA full time alongside our qualified engineers on small domestic works – right through to medium sized commercial projects. They will attend Black Bird Leys College in 3 week blocks over the next couple of years – and work towards becoming qualified.

We are very proud to call them part of our team, and hope they continue to enjoy learning all about the trade, complete college and become fully qualified electrician’s.
