Chester House, Belgravia

The brief

Chester House is a busy, occupied building with multiple floors of offices and luxury apartments in Belgravia, London. Group GA was contacted by our client Grangewood and the consultants at Edward Pierce, who had been set the task of laying the groundwork for the installation of a new substation in preparation for a big expansion of the estate.

The project

Our mechanical team were instructed to install seamless steel ductwork from the road outside to the new substation location within the estate to allow UK Power Networks to pull their cables through.

The biggest stumbling block here was that Group GA had to carry out these works whilst preserving the everyday running of the offices and apartments above. Our team worked around the clock to ensure that everything was coordinated and the site was not disrupted at any given moment. They achieved this by installing temporary power lines, rerouting and coordinating drainage pipes and working out of hours to ensure minimal disruption.

The result

Despite all of the challenges, this project was completed on time and on budget, with no disruption to the client, consultants, or people who use Chester House on a daily basis. This was a resounding success for both Group GA and the client and a fantastic start to the estate expansion.
