St Mary and All Saints School, Beaconsfield

St Mary and All Saints School seek to provide an environment where children can flourish, intellectually, spiritually and physically. Keeping the school and the buildings up to scratch is a significant part of this philosophy and knowing that they have contractors who they can trust is of paramount importance. GA Electrical have worked with Knowles & Sons on many occasions and were very pleased to be working alongside them to deliver this important project.

The school decided to undertake an ambitious development programme, refurbishing and extending the dining room; constructing new office space for the head teacher and administrative staff; and providing a link corridor to the south side of the building.

Work commenced to ensure all elements of the project were accounted for within the plan and the budget. It was important to assess the schools requirements with their representitives and the existing electrical consultant. A greater understanding of the schools needs emerged, and the team were able to factor in additonal elements to fulfil the enhanced brief.

The revised specification meant that the project was extended into school term time. All parties had to work closely to ensure the safety of the children, working hours were adapted to suit the contract and much of the work was carried out during weekends and school closing hours. In order to complete the project on schedule some work was undertaken during school hours and carried out by our CRB checked engineers who are all security cleared.

The project faced challenges in terms of budget and timescales, but with careful consideration around selection of materials and efficient use of time these impacts were minimised. The final solution provided all the benefits the school needed without having to compromise on the quality and usability of the end result – this was a project everyone could be proud of.
