Balderton Capital Office

The brief

A beautiful open plan office set-up in the heart of London, this building was originally stables, a home to horses and the buses they pulled. Now a modern, light and accessible workspace, Balderton Capital’s focus is to support rapid expansion for start-up businesses through a wealth of experience, investment and networking.

With a large portfolio of companies, the London HQ offers a place to meet, to have informal discussions and formal meetings. There are coworking spaces, a kitchen which offers a more relaxed environment and a dedicated space below, where events and dinners can take place.

With cellular glazed, soundproof offices being fitted, Group GA were tasked with installing the lighting, lighting controls and a fire alarm system.

The project

The client had set a very tight deadline for completion of all the work, with staff and others who use the space, returning on a fixed date. The expectation was that everything within the building would be completed and fully tested before their return. With the theme of the office a mix of modern high-quality furniture with a dark walnut finish, it was very much in contrast to the metal trunking and exposed cables overhead. Group GA had to ensure the services looked good, were fully functional and wherever it changed from industrial to high end, it blended in without compromising on the finish.

The installation included wiring for interactive TVs, the lighting and lighting control as well as installing a small power room and hidden floor boxes. This involved a substantial amount of detail and planning, to ensure it was accurately set out and very well integrated. There was a Kasambi lighting control system installed, which allows every light to be controlled by Bluetooth. Power is delivered to the lights which are then set up on a laptop after installation and allows the client to manage all the lighting from a tablet. This is the second Kasambi install undertaken by GA.

The result

Group GA delivered the brief within the tight timeline and to an incredible high standard which the client was very happy with. There were very few snags on this project, which is a great achievement considering the challenges and the timeframe involved.
